Dance Artist
Zsófi Börcsök was born in Hungary in 1995. She started dancing at the Secondary School of Art in Pécs and was a member of the Willany Leo Improvisation Dance Theatre and Zadam Company in Budapest for one season before moving to abroad.
She graduated at the Anton Bruckner Private University (Linz, Austria) where she has worked with choreographers such as Jason Jacobs, Dor Mamalia & Dariusz Nowak, Stella Zannou among other, after which she spent an internship by the wee dance company (Görlitz,Germany) under the direcIon of Dan Pelleg and Marko E. Weigert.
During her studies she was dancing in several pieces of the Landestheater Linz as well as performed in various places (OK Center for Contemporary Art Linz, Raumschiff Linz, etc.). She became interested in choreographing herself, when as a graduate she was the assistant of Jianan Qu during the creaIon of the piece, Not yet titled.
In 2021 and 2022 she was taking part of the project by Silvia Ospina Ritual de Poche at CORDILLERA Berlin, that implements a practice of exchange between performers/dancers and local communiIes.
She made her debut as a choreographer in 2022 with the presentation of the solo piece, Satori. The following year in collaboration with Jenny Keuter visual arIst and Lukas Panayi composer they presented the piece, iT, which later was also made into a short film.
Currently, Zsófi is based in Berlin and working as a freelance performer as well as spreading her passion for movement in the form of occasional teaching.
